I did another tempo run at ULTRA Oval Track yesterday afternoon where I was able to cover a distance of 17.10 kilometers. After my stretching routine, I did 12 laps of warm-up run covering a distance of 5.08 kilometers with a time of 27:31 minutes. My average pace was 5:25 mins/km with an Average/Maximum Heart Rate of 142 bpm/151 bpm. I usually do my warm-up run at Lanes 7 & 8.

After drinking water, I did a 12-minute run along Lanes 3 & 4 covering a distance of 2.67 kms (5+ laps) at an average pace of 4:36 mins/km. My Average/Maximum Heart Rate were 156 bpm/161 bpm. 175 Days: Sunday Run & Week’s Recap

I missed the company of the other “blogger-runners” after finishing the Adidas “King of the Road” 21K Run last Saturday morning. After seeing Bards aka Banana Running with her camera taking my finish pose; having a pose with Ivan from Los Banos, Laguna and the Philippine Army runners, I tried to look for my car where I could change my running kit. Instead, I met my officers and runners from Camp Aguinaldo and they offered me a bottle of 100 Plus Orange-flavored bottled drink while we were having a brief conversation. As soon as I finished drinking the whole bottle, I felt something wrong with my stomach! The drinks made some weird reaction to my stomach that I felt I was going to have a “LBM”. I immediately located my car and went home, missing the “photo-ops”, brief chats, and race stories with the other runners, most especially to the “runner-bloggers”. Anyway, after “relieving” myself at my place, I had to re-fuel, drink a lot of water and sports drinks, and had full rest. Later, I made my race report on this blog. 178 Days: Another Wet Running Day

At 5:53 AM today, I was already on the road for a wet slow steady run until I reached the ULTRA Oval Track. At the ULTRA, I was able to run for almost 43 minutes to what they call an “active recovery run”. Well, a day before the Adidas “King of the Road” 21K Run, I was able to run a distance of 13.65K with an average pace of 6:12 minutes per kilometer.

See you tomorrow morning at The Fort! Good Luck and Have Fun! Continue reading “178 Days: Another Wet Running Day”

178 Days: Running Aid 3 @ ROX

It was a busy day for me yesterday, Thursday, as I attended two separate meetings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with government offices in Metro Manila. I was not able to have my early morning running workout because of these meetings. Even if I decided to have my afternoon run after my meeting, I could not squeeze in enough time because I had to meet my staff and talk to some people in my office. So, I was in my long-sleeved Banana Republic polo shirt & Club Monaco pants with matching Salvatore Ferragamo belt and shoes when I attended, for the first time, the third session of Running Aid Clinic/Lectures by Neville Manaois and the Pinoy Ultra Runners. 180 Days: Adidas KOTR; Another “Runabout”; & Others

I got my race packet for the Adidas “King of the Road” (KOTR) 21K Race last Monday. Inside the race packet is a nice and expensive Adidas runner’s singlet, a flyer for the Adidas Shoes recommended to be used in specific road race distances, and the race bib. I think I am lucky this time to get the following race number.

181 Days: Back2Back Runs

After running 20+K last Sunday, I decided to continue my training the following day for a recovery run. The best place to have my recovery run was at the oval track because the track is more forgiving to my tired legs than the cemented/asphalted roads. Plus, for the simple reason that there are more runners at the oval tract.

I started my run at 5:50 PM yesterday and I was surprised to see a lot of runners and walkers. After a brief stretching, my run started as slow one with an Average Pace of 5:37 mins/km and I was able to finish 5 laps. I really didn’t know what made me decide to run the next 2 laps at a faster pace and finished it in 3:38 minutes ( average pace of 4:13 mins/km). Every 2 laps was followed with one lap recovery run. I ended doing another 3 sets of 800-meter runs whose times were: 3:50 mins; 4:11 mins; and 3:55 mins. After my last recovery lap, I ran another 8 1/2 laps with an average pace of 5:49 mins/km. I was able to run a total distance of 10.6 kilometers. I went to bed at 9:00 PM.

181 Days: Last Week’s Recap

I was able to run a distance of 81.84 kilometers for the past week (29 Sep-05 Oct 2008). I ran three times at the ULTRA Oval Track; one “runabout”; one trail run; one 10K race (“Hope In Motion #3) with additional 10K run after the race for a long run.

It was almost the same number of kilometers I had ran from the previous week (81.98 kms). I started to increase my pace during my speed runs at the oval track which resulted to a better time on last Sunday’s 10K race.

184 Days: Another Trail Run & Track Run

I had a brief trip outside Metro Manila for business purposes towards the Southern Tagalog area on the evening of Wednesday. I was not able to run on Thursday as I had to meet some people the whole day. On the early morning of Friday, I was able to run a distance of 8.2 kilometers on the trail in one of the mountains in Quezon Province. It was a slow run but I was able to sweat it out and flex my running legs even if I was on a business trip.
