Pictures @ Market! Market! 5-Mile Run

6:00 AM 18 May 2008 @ Market! Market!, The Fort

This was the Start & Finish Area of the 5-Mile Race. In my estimate, there were at least 350 runners who participated in this race. The road was wet brought about by the rains the night before race day. It was expected to rain as it was showering when the race was about to start. The race started at 6:00 AM.

On my right is Kim from Malaysia who called my attention when I was having my stretching exercises. She told me that she finished six marathons since she started running and also a regular visitor of this blog. On my left is Major Rod Turno of the Philippine Army and the other guy is also a soldier from the Philippine Army. Kim, I hope this picture is not late for publishing and hope to see you in our next road races.

This picture was taken after coming from the uphill portion along the vicinity of the International School. I was about to reach the 3-Km mark. Initially, I was using my Penshoppe Runner’s Cap but I removed it from this point up to the finish line. The Bald Runner should stay as bald while running!

This picture was taken at least 800 meters away from the Finish Line. The guy following me, a foreigner and tall guy, was able to overtake me 150 meters from the Finish Line.

I tried to maintain a faster pace but I wasn’t able to overtake those guys who passed from me on the final stretch of the race. This picture was taken 20 meters from the Finish Line. It was a nice race and the weather was fine. My time was 38:57 minutes for the 5-Mile Run.

When I logged into Google and searched “marathon runner in makati city” earlier this year, I found your blog and I keep up with it. Your experience and knowledge you convey gives your readers a lot of value on how to be a good runner. It was my honor to meet you. Kim O’Connell

    HI Br,

Kumusta na? I was looking forward to see your latest race pics yun pala na virus ka. At first, I thought it was you laptop pala. Fast paced tempo runs are important, it just takes so much out of you after training. But its a must to do at least one 20 minute once a week. Great time, wasnt it slippery during the run?

If shoes do get soaked, what’s your recommendation to keep it clean and fresh?

See you tomorrow at Doc Fit! : )

mark, it took me at least 5 hours to wait for the reformatting of my laptop/notebook and it costs me a lot which is equivalent to the price of an ASICS Gel-DS Trainer XI. I am using a Sony Vaio TX notebook which I thought was ordered from Singapore two years ago but only to find out that my Sony is an Australian Model. I don’t want to dig up my things for the original OS CD which are packed already for my transfer to another residence, so, I had to completely change the OS to Windows OS. Mr Bill Gates became richer again, courtesy of the Bald Runner! I also put in an Anti-Virus Program. Downloading the Drivers from Sony’s website took much of the technician’s time. Anyway, I am “back in business”. My day is not complete if I don’t post any story about my running. Back to your question, well, it was not slippery because I was using the Kinsei 2 which is heavy and with good traction. To maintain the cleanliness of the shoes, I just wash with toothbrush, laundry soap, & water on the sole portion and have it air-dried and use another running shoes for the following day’s running workout. Ok, see you tomorrow then at UP.
