177 Days: Adidas 21K @ 1:48:55 Hours

After running 13+K yesterday morning, I treated this 21K run this morning as one of my weekend long runs and I did not expect much to get a better time and I kept into my mind to have fun and enjoy the run. There was no massage this time two days or one day before the race as I was busy with my running workouts and meeting people for the past days.

I woke up at 3:45 AM today after going to bed before 8:00 PM last night. I did the usual ritual before the race and I was out of my place at 4:35 AM with a plan to make some warm-up and stretching near the starting area. After 10 minutes, I was already near the assembly area as the starting line was totally different place from the previous races in the past. After stretching, I entered the “corral” for the 21 K runners at least 5 minutes before the start time. While waiting for the gun to fire, I met my visitors to this blog and the officers and men from the Philippine Army. We were at least 5 meters from the front runners and busy talking with my former officers and men. Suddenly, the gun was fired and we were off for the 21K race. Based from the data I got from my GF 305, the race started 5 minutes before the scheduled start of the race and it showed a good sign for an outstanding race. 178 Days: Another Wet Running Day

At 5:53 AM today, I was already on the road for a wet slow steady run until I reached the ULTRA Oval Track. At the ULTRA, I was able to run for almost 43 minutes to what they call an “active recovery run”. Well, a day before the Adidas “King of the Road” 21K Run, I was able to run a distance of 13.65K with an average pace of 6:12 minutes per kilometer.

See you tomorrow morning at The Fort! Good Luck and Have Fun! Continue reading “178 Days: Another Wet Running Day”

178 Days: Running Aid 3 @ ROX

It was a busy day for me yesterday, Thursday, as I attended two separate meetings, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, with government offices in Metro Manila. I was not able to have my early morning running workout because of these meetings. Even if I decided to have my afternoon run after my meeting, I could not squeeze in enough time because I had to meet my staff and talk to some people in my office. So, I was in my long-sleeved Banana Republic polo shirt & Club Monaco pants with matching Salvatore Ferragamo belt and shoes when I attended, for the first time, the third session of Running Aid Clinic/Lectures by Neville Manaois and the Pinoy Ultra Runners. 179 Days: Comments For PNP Runners

In reaction to the post I made last Monday entitled, “You Will Be The Judge”, I received the folowing comments from my friends/visitors of this blog:

(1) From: Kinderdorf—Lakay,

This is revolting and it sucks! Perhaps the PNP officer should go to Sam Tucay’s reform school and if he does not reform, be shipped back as cargo!

27 minutes for a 10k! No way! If they ran a 27 minute 10k then they should have qualified for the Olympics.

I know that Mr. Sabal can really run but the PNP people are virtual unknowns.

180 Days: Adidas KOTR; Another “Runabout”; & Others

I got my race packet for the Adidas “King of the Road” (KOTR) 21K Race last Monday. Inside the race packet is a nice and expensive Adidas runner’s singlet, a flyer for the Adidas Shoes recommended to be used in specific road race distances, and the race bib. I think I am lucky this time to get the following race number.

181 Days: Back2Back Runs

After running 20+K last Sunday, I decided to continue my training the following day for a recovery run. The best place to have my recovery run was at the oval track because the track is more forgiving to my tired legs than the cemented/asphalted roads. Plus, for the simple reason that there are more runners at the oval tract.

I started my run at 5:50 PM yesterday and I was surprised to see a lot of runners and walkers. After a brief stretching, my run started as slow one with an Average Pace of 5:37 mins/km and I was able to finish 5 laps. I really didn’t know what made me decide to run the next 2 laps at a faster pace and finished it in 3:38 minutes ( average pace of 4:13 mins/km). Every 2 laps was followed with one lap recovery run. I ended doing another 3 sets of 800-meter runs whose times were: 3:50 mins; 4:11 mins; and 3:55 mins. After my last recovery lap, I ran another 8 1/2 laps with an average pace of 5:49 mins/km. I was able to run a total distance of 10.6 kilometers. I went to bed at 9:00 PM.

181 Days: Last Week’s Recap

I was able to run a distance of 81.84 kilometers for the past week (29 Sep-05 Oct 2008). I ran three times at the ULTRA Oval Track; one “runabout”; one trail run; one 10K race (“Hope In Motion #3) with additional 10K run after the race for a long run.

It was almost the same number of kilometers I had ran from the previous week (81.98 kms). I started to increase my pace during my speed runs at the oval track which resulted to a better time on last Sunday’s 10K race.

182 Days: “You Will Be The Judge”

While I was running at Ayala Alabang for the Hope In Motion 3 yesterday morning, elite runners being supported by Bald Runner’s Events were competing also at ULTRA, Montalban, and Cebu City. However, the TAKBO! BREAST FRIENDS Road Race which was held at PhilSports Complex (ULTRA) by Soroptimist-Ortigas was something to talk about or worth mentioning in this blog. I want my readers to express their comments as the following story deals with values in competitive sports.

183 Days: HIM3 @ Ayala Alabang

6:30 AM 05 October 2008 @ “Hope In Motion 3″/Ayala Alabang

I woke up at 4:20 AM, took my pre-race ritual, shaved my head, made sure to wear a red-colored running shirt as instructed for the 10K runners, ate oatmeal with ripe banana, and wore my new NIKE Lunarlite Racer. I really wanted to use this new NIKE racer shoes for this particular 10K race, my first 10K race since I arrived from the USA. I had a hard time looking for this kind of shoes when I was in Los Angeles. I only found this shoes being sold at the NIKE Store at The Grove-Farmers Market Shopping Mall at 3rd Street in Fairfax District.
