As of this date, there are already 700 registered runners from the AFP’s Major Services who will participate in the Half-Marathon and 5K run. On the civilian side, there are already 351 registered runners, of which 180 of them will be running the half-marathon and the rest will be running the 5K race. My staff & organizers expect to have at least a total of 1,200 runners with almost 300-400 runners participating the Half-Marathon distance.
It is unfortunate that this Sunday’s Half-Marathon race will be held on the same day with Senator Pia Cayetano’s “Pinay In Action Race” at The Fort and we expect that most of the civilian women runners will be absent in our Half-Marathon & 5K race.
The DND-AFP Gintong Pangarap Half-Marathon race will start at exactly 5:30 AM on Sunday at the Grandstand of the Villamor Air Base and the route goes all the way to the Philipine Public Safety College (near the International School), passing along Lawton Avenue in Fort Bonifacio towards The Fort Complex and back to Villamor Air Base.
I will be joining the runners in the Half-Marathon race. Hope to see you there!
Hi Sir, a clubmate of mine who ran an earlier edition of this race told me there were no water stations to be found after the turnaround. I hope there will be some this Sunday as I don’t carry a hydration belt π

miracle, we’ll see to it that there will be enough water stations along the route.

I wanted to join this race. The Half marathon fits right into my current training schedule. But for marital harmony I will have to go to PIA.
Good Luck!

Thanks Sir for the assurance of having enough water stations along the half-marathon route. I own a hydration belt but I only used it during practice runs, as I always depend on water stations during actual races. Besides, the hydration belt will further add up to the weight I am carrying with during the race.
I read in other web sites that there is somehow a difference in terms of food intake (before and during) between a full marathon and a half-marathon. I hope you can share your own experience and race strategy for a half-marathon.
Thanks again and more power to the Bald Runner.

m8parco, 1st priority goes to your wife! anyway, there will be another dnd-afp half-marathon for the second semester of this year and more Milo Elimination runs in the next months to come.
nolan, there will be water station every 2.5 kms and my staff assured me that there will be lots of water & water cups on these stations. in my experience, there is not much difference in running a half-marathon from the full marathon. i usually don’t take any food during the race and make sure that i am hydrated every water station. just think that this is one of your long slow distance runs but if you think you can increase your pace after the turn-around point, go ahead and do your “negative split”. good luck!

Hi,
We were told yesterday to coordinate with Roda at Villamor for race registration. Unfortunately we were informed upon calling now(2pm) that we have to register on sunday early morning before the race itself. Is there a way for us to do this before the race? Sunday might be too tight as the 21km starts 530am.

We’re registered! Thanks for the help. Its really a small world. One of Captain Espejo’s players used to be my team mate when I was still part of the Canoe/Kayak national team. I appreciate that you even called him up and asked if I already dropped by. Again, salamat po. : )

Great weather, lots of water, great race! I got a new PR of 1:53 (unofficial). : ) I was just aiming for a sub 2 before it started. Now the new goal is 1:45.
I looked for you sir but you were dressing up as I was told. When the program started, we had to leave already. 2 of my friends were wasted as it was their first 21 km.
