Sir, I would also like to know how did Wilnar train 🙂 That was a blistering pace that he recorded out there. Congrats to Wilnar!
Sir, congrats to you too for executing this one of a kind race.
Lastly, congrats to all the finishers, and to all who started at km 00.

Congratulations to everybody that took up the challenge of BDM 160 – just showing up at Km 00 is commendable. To all finishers – within cut-off or not – it was very inspiring. To everybody that DNF’ed – keep your heads up. Get the b*tch next year! Congrats also to BR the RD – none of this would have been possible without your vision and effort.

Next weekend, it’s our turn with 102. Wish us luck!

thanks, julius! the 59 brave warriors who started the race were great! they gave all their best to perform well and to finish the race but the “gods of running” had punished almost half of them for being hard-headed. more of this in my next blog posts!

Congratulations and Mabuhay to All. If everyone finished, this would not be BDM 160. No matter what, eveyone is a winner. Just to be on the starting line makes everyone proud of your big heart.
Thanks Sir jovie for making Pinoy runner’s dream come true.

thanks, gilbert. you did great! you kicked some ass out there as you started way down at the back. thanks for the offer as my future crew/pacer for the badwater ultramarathon. unfortunately, that would never happen. we’ll be glad to have you with us again in the next edition of the race.

  4. Sir,

Ignore the “noise”. There are those who didn’t finish the race within cut-off time but demand to be in the list…and wanting the buckle as well! Well guys, thats why there’s cut-off time….if you guys will be allowed, people will be running 160km in the future in what…50 hours?guys grow up.rules are there to be followed.stop whining..train again in the future. Your bloated ego is getting the best from you.

pagong 2, i am glad that my internet connection in the mountains of bataan is not very efficient that i really don’t read about such “noise” in other sites or forum. my rules are rules and it will never change. what you see on top is the OFFICIAL RESULT and that’s it! thanks for the heads up!

    2. Hello Pagong 2,

I was at the last 12K with 1.5 hours to spare. Finished in 31 hours and 8 mins. and was 36th who crossed. There were two others behind me also who finished the whole journey despite knowing they won’t make it to cut-off. I don’t think it’s the runners slash stragglers like us who are making the noise. We respect the rules of the race and follow it to the letter. For now, we’re just truly happy to finish, get our trophy, medal and shirt. Now that we know we can do it, the next target is to get better. =)

Sir Jovie, thanks again for this opportunity. I’d like to run the 100 miler maybe when I have a child so he can witness his mom and dad’s heroics on the road. It’s a race you would want your kids to witness. In the meantime, I’ll work on getting stronger.

      =)

haide, thanks for supporting the race. tell your chief, support crew to “double time” and do some “late lights” to produce what you wish for. well, your chief, support crew will know what i mean with those military slangs i’ve written. i know you can make it better next time..please do not run a marathon race during your taper time…LOL!

Congrats to all and thank you Sir for giving us the first ever 100 miler. I envied these guys but salute them for being so brave and valiant. Sorry, can’t make it in the starting line but next year, I’ll be there for sure. By the way, I’m fixing my tight schedule and condition so that I could join Mayon 360 this coming April.

Keep it up Sir. All the best.

thanks for those kind words. i am still wondering why it took a long time before this kind of tribute for our heroes would be realized through an ultramarathon race. well, everything now is history and you’ve been part of that historic moment for joining the 1st ever 100-mile solo road race in the country. see you soon!

Hi Sir Jovie, thank you for giving me the opportunity to once again test my physical and mental limits at its most visceral level. This is without a doubt the hardest race I have ever done, nothing even comes remotely close. My concept of “pain threshold” was redefined several times during the race. That immensely difficult 9k stretch at the end encapsulated the words “Death March” for me within the steaming expanse. I know I haven’t had the same exposure nor the same training as some of my contemporaries , which meant I had to work infinitely harder to get to the very end. The “running gods” were on my side for this one, even broke my old 102 PR by an hour hehe. I have been really blessed. Thank you very much sir, I will cherish the memories forever. Congratulations to everybody who took part in this historic event, you all rock!

And thank you for allowing pacers for the last leg, this gave me (and us – all other volunteer pacers) a chance to share and run part(s) of the historic road and race with them. An honour.

Sir J, I just arrived in Orlando and happy that I participated in the BDM 160. It has its own unique ‘challenges’. I did not expect running in close contact with jeepneys nor had the experience with blistered feet. My feet and pride are the only hurts I feel. The pleasure was mine in meeting you, other Pinoy runners and very supportive crew members.
Sounds corny… but thanks for the memory!

congrats ulit BR, for a successful 100-mile event!

am wondering now, who made it fastest. runners with:
1.) a lean support crew. his spirit being more determined, knowing the odds.
2.) a battle-tested s.crew, with home court advantage. spells the unfair the big difference, believe me.
3.) who are first timers (both the runner and crew), in a gung-ho style attack. finish or not finish.

    kongrats ulit sa mga tumakbo.

  20. Sir Jovie,

Thank you for organizing a very challenging race! Even though I didn’t run the event, witnessing the hardship of the runner we supported was indeed an eye-opener on how we should focus more on trainings and preparation for these events. Nevertheless, it was a venue for character and willpower, the physical body was only a vessel. Kahit gaano ka ka-fit or kalakas, pag ganitong mga takbuhan talagang mapapaisip ka kung paano mo tapusin.

Congratulations again sir for creating a very tough race! It’s our turn to make a record this weekend 😀 (kabado na rin ako!)
