“Speed Training” & 2009 PSE Bull Run

18 01 2009

This is just “teaser” of the race report I will be posting soon about the conduct of the 1st road race for the year 2009.

As usual, the Project Donate A Shoe Booth (luckily, I was not “bumped-off” this time!) became the “meeting place” of the Hardcore & Concerned Runners and members of Team Bald Runner. There is only one thing I could say about these runners, who had been religiously training in our “speed training” for the past weeks at the ULTRA Oval Track—they were showing their happy faces as all of them have broken their best PR times for the 10K & 5K Runs. Congratulations to the members of Team Bald Runner! The “speed program” really works! Our thanks to Major Ferdie Espejo, Jr. and Coach Satur Salazar for their efforts in seeing to it that we always follow our respective “target goal” program.

I finished the 10K race in 46:17 minutes. Another PR to start the year.

Hahaha, the Concerned Runners were not in full force. : )

I did a 47:04, though not a PR its still the best time ever since I got back to running last December. Yep, the speed training works! More recruits, results speak for program.

Sir Jovie, cheers to the the speed training sessions that have helped all the members of Team Bald Runner. I am attesting to its effectiveness as i was able to improve my PR from 47:30 to much less than this. I was not able to see my actual time as i was concentrating too much in sprinting and finishing strong however nontheless will wait for the posting of the official results.

Again, congratulations to you and to our coaches for doing really good. Looking forward to stronger and faster race improvements for 2009.

since you were far ahead of me, i could estimate that you finished the race in 45+ minutes. congrats!

Hey BR, congrats on your team for winning the men’s TNF 20K c/o Isidro Vildisola, and thanks also for not fielding your elite women runners. (AMCI girls cleaned up, thank you).

That was one of the best organised races I have ever joined, bar none. I heard there is a lot of gnashing of teeth at the Bull Run though, too bad.

thanks for the information. congrats for the accomplishments of your AMCI women runners. the bull run was the first disappointment for the year.

it works. :P running 75% of the distance last friday at race pace gave me the confidence that I can sustain my pace over the full distance. thanks BR and thanks coaches!

Sir jovie, congrats on a very decent finish time, while I was reading your blog and saw your finish time, all I can say was WOW! I hope I can be as fast as you are. as for me I joined the TNF race in Nasugbu, finished with 1hour 26minutes for my first trail run. I need to practice more to be like you. God speed. :)

46 mins is a really impressive improvement. I hope so day I can get back down to that time though I fear it will be many many months away.

Hi Sir Jovie, the speed training really works. though unofficial, i finished 59:59 hitting my 60min goal. Don’t know the official time because of the long line at the finish. I felt the great improvement in my performance. Thanks to the coaching staff of Team Baldrunner, Capt. Coach Espejo and Coach Salazar. Baby also got a new PR in 5K.

Congratulations to you too sir Jovie! See you tuesday at the ULTRA.

BR,
Congratulation to Isidro of Team BaldRunner who won the TNF Thrill of the Trail 20k. And, hmmm… i missed speed training for quite sometime.

Finisher T shirt? WHAT FINISHER T SHIRT???
Didn’t get any f*****g shirt!
Didn’t even get the sports drink!

Got my PR there though. I did a 68 min (based on my watch). That’s a PR to me already. Didn’t expect the finish line was close already so I wasn’t able to run like hell, up the the “finish line queue”

rltanmd, congrats for the PR despite those negative feedbacks. see you at the races.
